About PrepperGuide.ch

PrepperGuide.ch is a private, independent information platform on emergency preparedness in Switzerland. It is run by Marco Baumgartner from Burgdorf (canton of Bern) — as a committed private individual, not as an authority, doctor or official organisation. What is created here is the result of genuine interest, careful research and the wish to make official recommendations understandable and Switzerland-specific.

Brief introduction

My name is Marco Baumgartner. For some time now I have taken a personal interest in emergency preparedness and in the question of how to prepare yourself and your family for events such as a power outage, severe weather or supply shortages. PrepperGuide.ch is my attempt to bring together the scattered knowledge of official Swiss bodies in one place — in clear language, without scaremongering and without any intent to sell. I am not a doctor, not a paramedic and not an authority. I do not provide professional medical or legal advice; I make publicly available, official information easier to understand.

Our mission

Emergency preparedness should not be complicated or frightening, but practical for everyday life. Many key recommendations — from the federal emergency supplies to how to behave when sirens sound — are officially available, but spread across many government pages and not always easy to find. My goal is to provide this information in a Switzerland-specific, accurate and understandable way, all in one place, so that people in Switzerland can act more calmly and better prepared when an event occurs.

How we work — editorial approach and sources

The standard for this site is reliability. That is why I consistently rely on official Swiss bodies and cite the sources used for each topic. Key reference sources are:

If I cannot back up a piece of information beyond doubt with an official source, I do not write it as fact — or I clearly mark it as unconfirmed. A short, correct statement is better than a detailed one that is uncertain.

Currency and corrections

Recommendations and legal frameworks change. I check the content regularly for currency and correct errors as soon as I become aware of them. If you notice an inaccuracy or an outdated source, I would be grateful for a note. In an event, the current official communication of the responsible bodies (in particular Alertswiss and the local authorities) always takes precedence.

Support & Collaboration

PrepperGuide is an independent project that relies on the support of its community. Running the site – research, maintaining the content in four languages, the technology and the servers – is for now still financed through advertising. If the site helps you, you already support the project by recommending it to others.

I am open to genuine, honest product reviews – tested independently and rated fairly – and to working with organisations or partners that fit emergency preparedness and civil protection. Feel free to get in touch via the contact address below.

Anyone who wants to directly help carry the operation will find the receiving addresses and QR codes on the page Support PrepperGuide.

PrepperGuide on the Reticulum network

Everything on this site is also available as a plain-text edition on the Reticulum network – a network that runs over radio or the internet and needs no domain names, no certificates and no internet provider. If you use Nomad Network, you will find the same guides there in all four languages, even when this website is unavailable. The node is connected over the internet; if the internet fails, it cannot be reached.

Nomad Network and Reticulum explained: setup step by step

Names are not protected on the Reticulum network: anyone can call a node “PrepperGuide.ch”. Which node addresses belong to us is stated exclusively by this page.
