Frequently asked questions

What does the checklist generator do?

It creates a personal emergency checklist from your answers – household, dwelling, regional hazards, special needs and equipment you already have. The foundation is proven Swiss emergency-preparedness components: water, food, energy, home medicine cabinet, documents, information and emergency bag.

Are the displayed quantities official?

No. In Switzerland, only the drinking-water requirement is officially specified (9 litres per person for approximately three days). For food and equipment, the federal government names categories but no exact quantities – our figures are understandable reference values for you to adapt.

Do I need an account?

No. The checklist is created and displayed without sign-up. Only if you want to save it and check off items later do you need a free account.

Why are some components left out?

If you indicate that you already have certain equipment – such as an emergency radio, gas stove or power station – the generator leaves out the corresponding component to keep the list lean.

Does the tool work without JavaScript?

Yes. The generator works entirely server-side: you fill in the form, submit it and get the finished checklist – completely without JavaScript.
